The Asian Council of Science Editors (ACSE) proudly welcomes the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information. This declaration represents a crucial step towards transforming the research information landscape, aligning closely with ACSE's mission to advance scholarly publishing standards across Asia.
The Barcelona Declaration emphasizes the imperative need for openness in the dissemination of research information. By committing to making openness the default standard for research information, organizations involved in research, funding, and evaluation can collectively contribute to fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and innovation within the scholarly community.
At ACSE, we recognize the significance of open research information in enabling evidence-based science policy decisions, facilitating transparent research evaluations, and supporting the global movement toward open science. By endorsing the Barcelona Declaration, we affirm our commitment to working towards a future where research information is accessible, auditable, and fully transparent. More than 40 organizations have committed to making openness of research information the norm and to lead this change in the research information landscape.Undertaking the leadership role in changing the production and use of research information, the signatories to the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information pledge to establish transparency as the new standard for research communication and conduct.
We believe that the commitments outlined in the Barcelona Declaration will play a pivotal role in accelerating the transition towards openness in research information. By working collaboratively with services and systems that support open research information and advocating for the sustainability of open research infrastructures, we can collectively drive positive change within the scholarly ecosystem.
By endorsing the Barcelona Declaration, ACSE reaffirms its commitment to advancing scholarly publishing across Asia and empowering professionals to embrace openness and transparency in research dissemination.
